4. Strategy Recommendations & Task Management
The engine that drives ProfitFlow is the Strategies dashboard. This is where data from your catalog, cost share, and profitability metrics are put into perspective and turned into actionable recommendations.
Strategies are generated by analyzing your catalog at the ASIN level, breaking down costs, and comparing them against your profit targets. Each ASIN is then assigned strategies (recommendations) that identify the most effective actions to improve profitability.
Our recommendations engine is tied to the four cost share categories (Landed Cost, Amazon Fees, Advertising, Storage) as well as Days of Supply on Amazon.
From the Profit Settings page, you can customize how strategies (recommendations) are generated:
- Choose which teams receive strategies and toggle specific strategy types on or off.
- Snooze recommendations for products you donβt want updates on until later.
- Adjust the timeframe for impact calculations (e.g., 3, 6, or 12 months) to focus on short- or long-term profitability gains.
Updating Recommendations
You can update strategies at the catalog level by running bulk actions or selecting the hamburger menu next to a single ASIN. Select the team(s) you want recommendations for, and the engine will analyze your data and return tailored strategies.
Once your recommendations have been generated, you can:
- Accept a strategy recommendation (β icon).
- Reject a strategy (β icon).
- Overwrite/edit it with your own plan (β icon).
- Snooze strategies for products you donβt want updates on until later.
- Star products that are fully optimized and donβt require action.
Strategies by Team & Task Management
The Strategies dashboards are organized into three core teams, each with its own focus and set of recommendations. This structure ensures that every strategy is actionable and assigned to the right people:
- Operations Team β Manages inventory and operations (e.g., restocking, transfers, supply chain efficiency).
- Marketing Team β Focuses on sales and advertising performance (e.g., optimizing PPC campaigns, reducing wasted spend).
-
Finance Team β Oversees cash flow and profitability (e.g., auditing supplier costs, tariffs, or fee structures).
Once strategies (recommendations) are surfaced for each team, they can be turned into actionable tasks. Examples include:
- Operations β Send new stock (order or transfer).
- Finance β Audit supplier costs, tariffs, or unit pricing.
-
Marketing β Adjust PPC campaigns or reallocate budget.
Tasks can be tracked by status, assigned to teams, and updated with notes for visibility. The Impact column helps prioritize ASINs by showing the potential financial gain of moving each product back into target cost share. This ensures that every strategy flows directly into team-owned tasks, aligning operations, marketing, and finance toward the same profitability goals.
- Assign Tasks β Click the Edit Tasks button for any ASIN with strategies attached. Each task adapts to the type of recommendation generated.
- Track Progress β Use the Task Status dropdown to move tasks through stages: Pending β In Progress β Complete.
- Collaborate with Notes β Add notes at any stage to provide context, updates, or facilitate communication between departments.
- Prioritize with Impact β The Impact column calculates the financial gain of moving an ASIN back into target cost share, helping teams focus on the highest-return opportunities first.
This process ensures that all strategies are converted into structured, actionable tasks, keeping operations, marketing, and finance aligned, accountable, and focused on driving profitability.
